Gauley Bhai, meaning "brothers from back home," is a contemporary folk-rock quartet formed in 2017 in Bangalore. Veecheet, Anudwatt, and Sidhant grew up in Kalimpong, while Joe grew up in Calicut, and their sound emerged from shared memories of migrating from small towns to big cities. Their musical inspirations draw from Nepali folk, South Indian Singari rhythms, blues, rock and roll, and hip hop. Though they sing in Nepali, audiences across contexts connect to their music, establishing them as both a regional and global sound. In 2019 they released their debut album Joro, exploring love, loss, and belonging, critically acclaimed for its genre-blending sound and enthralling live performances. The album toured extensively through India and Nepal and was performed in England at the Joon Festival. In 2025, they released their highly anticipated second studio album Sunbari, meaning "a field where gold grows."
